Logo and characters

This was a Creative Competition Project by ‘Bulb Studios’ at University. The aim of the brief was to create the identity, graphic style, visuals and marketing for a new game brand for mobile devices. The game has to use a ‘key game mechanic from an existing title. My chosen mechanic was ‘Puzzle Bobble’ a colour- matching puzzle game. This project I really enjoyed and got involved, it was something different to work with. To me this added another branch of design to my list and something I could do in the future.

The main point of the game was interaction and bright colourful visuals for the participant. ‘Colour Cannon’ is based on print and the main colours of print ‘CMYK’. I was inspired by the CMYK and print registration marks that is presented on print outs. I incorporated them on to the game to give its theme/ style.

Using the mechanic from puzzle bobble the aim is to match the colours. In this game the eyedropper or pipette tool aims the colour blob at the colours and matches them to the relevant colour.
As interaction was the main point to the game and consumer. I designed a mini game that you would play between the actual game. Using the gyro axis in the phone the player would move the phone around so that colours would move to creating a nice colourful picture, which you can decide to have as your background in the next level.
